Our team of professional teaching artists have over 30 years of collective arts education and performance experience. Our diverse, creative team have extensive training and are leaders within their industries including; Dance, Theatre, Visual Arts, Comedy, Acting, and Vocal training.
Rebekah Rickards
Rebekah Rickards, lead teaching artist, is a Virginia Beach native, professional dance educator, performing artist, writer, and producer. She spends her time equally between creating meaningful, interactive art experiences for children and original comedy works.
Licensed and accredited, with over a decade of professional teaching experience, Rebekah’s career as an arts educator ranges from students 3 years old to 92 years young.
She has been creating original, comedic dance-theatre works for 15 years and has been featured in universities, comedy clubs, living rooms, lecture halls, and festivals across the country. Rebekah believes in the power of innovation through limitation, and prides herself in being a resourceful and collaborative voice within the community.
Her artistry continues to seek deeper connections between arts education, movement practice, comedy, storytelling, film, and the shared human experience.
Ashley Berkman
Ashley Berkman is a lifelong performer with a background in physical comedy, multimedia visual art, installation art and arts education who also has a passion for mindfulness and body awareness.
SuperKidz Stories is an amazing playground where she is able to utilize all of the various aspects of her skillset be it designing silly props, bringing the SuperKidz Stories puppets to life, or jumping onto the screen as a villainous walrus who really just needs a friend.
She is grateful every day that her life includes making kids laugh as they move and play and learn to trust themselves.
Joslynn Cortes
Joslynn Cortes is SUPER excited to be a part of the SuperKidz Stories Creative Team!
Joslynn is a professional actress and singer with a very extensive performance and teaching resume. She has performed on stages such as the Equinox Theatre on Celebrity Cruises, The Walnut Street Theatre in Philadelphia, PA and The Wayward Artist in Santa Ana, California. She also has had the privilege of teaching theatre, voice and audition prep through Appel Farms Theatre Academy, Quinton Township Elementary School Drama Club and The Theatre School at The Walnut Street Theatre.
After receiving her training and BFA from AMDA College & Conservatory of the Performing Arts in both New York and Los Angeles, Joslynn started her own business teaching voice! Since launching Vocal Love, she has taught over 150 virtual voice lessons and laryngeal massage lessons to students from Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Hong Kong, China and all over the United States of America. Joslynn is so grateful to be a part of an organization that prioritizes the imagination and creativity of young artists all while creating a productive focused space for both the students and instructors!
Some of her favorite regional theatre performances include: Eva Peron (Evita), Queen Aggravain (Once Upon A Mattress), Junie B. Jones (Junie B. Jones the Musical), Fiber (Nick Nutrition and his Wonder Dog Fiber [Tour]), Katisha (The Hot Mikado) and Fermina (Man of La Mancha).
